About Andrea

Hi there! I’m Andrea (she/her), founder of Connected Healing Psychotherapy and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I offer psychotherapy services for individuals living in the Hamilton/Burlington area and all across Ontario.

My passion for mental health and wellness has been with me from a young age; from volunteering in my community, to advocating for equity and human rights, to holding counselling roles in community, hospital, and private practice settings, I have been involved in the field of mental health for as long as I can remember.

Like others who have landed on this site, I too have experienced pain and difficulties throughout my life journey, and part of the reason why I am so inspired by the work that I do is because I have experienced the healing power of therapy first hand. I wholeheartedly believe that this has made me a better clinician. Therapy can be a lifechanging experience, and my hope is to support individuals in finding their own unique healing journeys as well.

When I’m not in the therapy space, you can find me engaging in activities that inspire movement, connection, and joy - hiking along trails, reading books, caring for my plants, practicing yoga, and travelling to new places with family and friends are just a few of my favourites!

Education and Experience

I hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from York University as well as a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health and have over 10 years of experience in the mental health and counselling field. 

Additionally, I have attended workshops and/or completed trainings in the following areas:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Level 2 APT-Accreditation)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

  • Practical strategies for navigating anxiety and depression

  • Harm reduction

My Philosophy

Reaching out for support in navigating your deepest concerns takes courage. Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, or overwhelm from the heaviness of life’s challenges, searching for reconnection, or hoping to gain personal insight, I recognize how important it is to feel heard and understood. My style is warm, welcoming, and relaxed, and I will work alongside you with compassion and nonjudgment as we move through your healing journey.

I am committed to creating a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. Collaboratively, we can explore your wellness needs and create a path towards healing that feels balanced and aligned with your values.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is relational; through the therapeutic relationship, we can explore how to deepen your connection with yourself, and how to find meaning in your relationships with others. In our work together, we can navigate difficult thoughts and emotions, discover your inner strengths, and build strategies for growth and healing.

I believe in implementing a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective into my practice. I am passionate about the connection between our mind and body and incorporate relaxation and grounding practices into the therapeutic space as well.
